About the game
What it is
Hurricane Harrison is a fast-paced action game that's easy to get into
and hard to beat. Each level is built around a five-minute play session that steadily
ramps up the action and difficulty, then ends with a boss battle unique to that
world.
Gameplay is inspired by bullet-heaven games. Your weapons fire automatically, so you
concentrate on moving and on the skills you control yourself, like Hurricane and Quick
Step. Use them when you need them most, then wait for them to recharge based on their
power.
The world takes its look from the SNES era of JRPGs: colorful and retro, with buildings
to explore, treasure to discover, and monster ambushes waiting around the corner. As
you gain experience during a run you unlock new skills and grow stronger, and every
level has a friendly shop where gold looted from fallen monsters and treasure chests
buys new items and potions.
Five hand-tuned difficulty levels are designed for players of all experience levels,
so you can find the challenge that's right for you. And if that's not enough, Custom
Difficulty lets you tune the game yourself. Want huge swarms of monsters with very
little health? Or fewer monsters with three times the health? Create your own
challenge and play Hurricane Harrison your way.
A run is five minutes, so the game fits whatever time you have: pick it up, play one
run, put it down. Or keep going. Clearing a world usually takes many runs, each
difficulty keeps its own map of cleared worlds, and a single world on NIGHTMARE can
take an hour of attempts, or a week. Five minutes is easy to find. One more try is
how an hour goes.
How it plays
Four things to know
Every run follows the same shape. This is what you are doing during those five
minutes.
Five minutes to the boss
A level is a five-minute session. Monsters arrive faster and hit harder as the
clock runs, and at the end the world's boss shows up. Beat it and that world is
cleared. One run needs five minutes; one world can take an evening.
Auto-fire weapons, hands-on skills
Weapons aim and fire on their own. Skills like Hurricane and Quick Step are yours
to trigger. Use them when it counts, then wait for them to recharge: the stronger
the skill, the longer the wait.
Explore, loot, shop
Buildings to walk into, treasure chests to find, and monster ambushes around the
corner. Gold from fallen monsters and chests is spent at the shop in every level
on new items and potions.
Five difficulties, or your own
Five hand-tuned difficulty levels, from a gentle start to a serious challenge.
Custom Difficulty lets you set monster health, numbers and more, so you can play
Hurricane Harrison your way.
Worlds
Five worlds, five bosses
The game starts in Harrison's hometown and moves outward. Clear a world's boss and
the next one opens on the map.
